Homologous Recombination Repair

Overview

This repair pathway happens mainly during cell division when a double stranded break happens to DNA. Many steps and hundreds of enzymes, proteins and other molecules are required. There is some evidence that this repair mechanism is also used for radiation damage in plants, but it has not been generally proven.
